Find out more

We are on the lookout for five Indian and five European startups to join an all-expenses paid innovation sprint in Bengaluru, India, in the first week of February 2023 to develop their solutions to solve one of the three specific challenges in urban mobility.

The Urban Mobility Berlin India (UMBI) project aims to connect German and Indian actors in addressing the challenges of climate-friendly urban mobility in India. Bringing together innovative companies, public institutions, and private actors in close long-term cooperation, the project bridges the key players in the urban mobility sector – both in the innovation hubs of the fast-growing markets of India and Berlin.

The Directorate of Urban Land Transport is a challenge owner in the UMBI project and believes in public-private partnerships to address today's most pressing urban mobility challenges. For tackling the issues of freight management and gender inclusivity, we have proposed two challenges: Handling Freight with Finesse and Creating a Gender-inclusive system.

To participate, you choose one of the three challenges:

Handling Freight with Finesse

Develop AI tools to obtain data on freight movement, to inform more climate-friendly regulations in India.

Creating a Gender-inclusive System

Create tech-based solutions that encourage the use of public transport by making it more gender-inclusive, safe, and convenient.

Decarbonizing Transport with Hydrogen

Research the development of hydrogen-powered vehicles to decarbonise the transportation sector in India.

...and work on solving the challenge during the innovation sprint!
