Bannada Chigari is a public art initiative of the Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT) in partnership with the Hubballi-Dharwad BRTS Company limited (HDBRTSCo.) to enliven the spaces in and around the existing transit infrastructure of the HDBRTS.

The Hubballi-Dharwad Bus Rapid Transit System (HDBRTS) is a unique project initiated by the Government of Karnataka. The BRTS services, branded as “Chigari”, provides fast, safe, reliable, comfortable, and affordable travel to the commuters. Transit stations and areas connected to transit have great potential to be developed as vibrant public spaces.  Art plays a big role in how humans see and interact with one another and the world in general. Artwork in public spaces is said to humanize the built environment and invigorate public spaces.
